About Us

Root & Rise Counselling CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to making high-quality, trauma-informed counselling more accessible for young adults and the wider community.

We believe that early support has the power to change lives. By offering integrative counselling, with person-centred practice at its core, we tailor our approach to each individual, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to best meet their unique needs.

We know that accessing mental health support can be challenging. Long NHS waiting lists and the cost of private therapy mean many people struggle to get the help they need when they need it most. Root & Rise exists to help bridge that gap by providing affordable, subsidised or free counselling wherever possible through grant funding, fundraising and community partnerships.

Every person who comes to us is unique, so their support should be too. Rather than offering a fixed number of sessions, counselling is tailored to individual needs and reviewed collaboratively using recognised outcome measures where appropriate. This helps ensure that support continues for as long as it remains beneficial.

Although our primary focus is supporting young adults aged 18–25, we recognise that lasting change is sometimes strengthened by the people around them. Where appropriate, and always with the client’s informed consent, parents, partners or other significant family members may be involved in the therapeutic process to improve understanding, strengthen relationships and create a more supportive environment.

Our founder is professionally qualified to work with adults, couples and families, enabling Root & Rise to offer a holistic, relationship-centred approach whenever it is in the client’s best interests.

As Root & Rise grows, our vision is to work alongside schools, colleges, universities and community organisations to expand access to early intervention, reduce barriers to mental health support and promote emotional wellbeing across Gloucestershire and beyond.

Our Mission

To provide compassionate, accessible and evidence-based counselling that empowers people to overcome challenges, build resilience and create lasting positive change.

Our Vision

A future where everyone can access timely, high-quality mental health support, regardless of their financial circumstances, and where early intervention helps prevent emotional difficulties from becoming lifelong barriers.
